The idea is to promote great apps created specially for the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab series devices, whose larger-than-phone screen sizes don’t usually get love from the Android community.
The general Note and Tab apps are to be judged on popularity — number of downloads and similar metrics — with the top achievers earning not only financial rewards but space in Samsung’s press releases, advertising campaigns and marketing strategies. Apps specifically designed to make use of the S Pen will be judged by a panel. The top winner in each category will earn $200,000, and several awards of $100,000 and $50,000 will also be available.
In all 80 winners will be chosen, with promises of notoriety and pseudo-fame. The promotion runs between now and September 30th, so if you’re an Android developer with some time to kill, get working.

Make money by making an Android app

  1. In-app advertising: Running ads inside your app generates revenue. The user doesn’t have to pay, and you get money. It’s a win-win. Currently, all AppsGeyser apps run ads for you, and when your app gets enough uses, you get paid.
  2. In-app purchases: Give a game away  for free, but have the best goodies available for cash. It works for Zynga, and it can work for you if your game is super-addictive.
  3. Bolster your business: Some apps help your business generate income by connecting you more directly and interactively with your customers. For a great example of this, look at the Charlotte Mobile Real Estate app.

Make Money With Yahoo Answers

Like with any other money making idea…most of them are good, but the number one reason why failure is common…they lack direction. Not this time. There are many ways to make money online (as you have seen by reading this blog) but let’s focus on one of the thousand: making money with Yahoo! Answers.
If you have been around the world of affiliate marketing for a while I’m sure you have heard of this marketing method before. Both success and failure; and, how it no longer works. Well, this is because most people want to talk about spamming Yahoo Answers without providing a service. Let’s take a look:
Way 1 :  Yahoo! Answers is one of the fastest growing social networking sites on the internet when it comes to user generated content. Just like the old Radio Shack slogan…”You’ve got questions? We’ve got Answers.” The same goes for this site: everyone has a question – someone needs to provide the answers. Even though Yahoo as a company has been divided up more than the West Bank…Answers seems to be doing well. Assuming you want to follow my advice and earn some cash…you have to make one promise: the goal is to help people. It’s amazing who is willing to PAY you to help them. Time to state some guidelines:
* Start using your account: Don’t go and create 175 accounts like some recommend. Yahoo will flag your IP if you do this. This account will be your “bread and butter”….start answering questions authoritatively. For right now, that’s it…your only job is to answer. People won’t listen to anything you have to say unless they trust you. The object is to build trust by gaining points: here’s how Yahoo Breaks it down.
  • Ask a Question: – 5 Points (they evidently want to encourage giving vs. taking)
  • Vote for a Best Answer: + 1 Point
  • Answer a Question: + 2 Points
  • Choose a Best Answer for Your Question: + 3 Points
  • Answer Is Selected as Best Answer: + 10 Points
Even though there are more rating details to cover…those are the basics.
Way 2 : When choosing questions to answer, let me show you something I thought of while researching this: go to the homepage of Answers and do several search queries in the box: website, URL, site…you might even try “link.” Check it out >>> As you see, people are ASKING you to TELL them which Hosting site to use. Don’t use this technique until you’ve mastered step 1: helping people. Or in the case of “url,” they are asking for a specific link. This can go for any industry, not just web hosting: which site is best for buying ringtones, digital cameras – you name it.
Way 3 : When answering, it’s important to keep in mind certain SEO aspects. How many times have you Googled something and seen Yahoo! results? On a side note, I find it incredibly funny how Google views Answers as an authority website…I guess it’s kinda like Fox News; Fair & Balanced. Moving on, just like writing content for a website, your answers will be indexed…and, especially the ones with your links – make sure you’re targeting desired keywords. Every time you answer a question…keep in mind someone could view it 2 years from now.
Way 4 : Now its time to figure out what links you want to promote. If you own your own website you’re already ahead of the game. This saves you time in dealing with the headache of which affiliate offers allow you to promote on social networking sites. Some have strict stipulations on using Facebook, Myspace…etc. Some network’s I have used in the past (and have advertisers allowing slightly blackhat marketing techniques,) are: Azoogleleads.com, RocketProfit.com, ClixGalore.com and ClickBank.com.
My advice is, get with your account manager (they are on your side) and let them know what you are trying to do. Look for a niche market besides common ones such as web hosting. The less answers being supplied, the more likely yours will be chosen as best….therefore your rank increases.
Way 5 : Be active in the Answers community. Just like Facebook & Myspace, add contacts to increase your trust. This is also a good time to start up a second Yahoo account…if you’ve been diligent in building up the first one, becoming an authority on subjects and having been selected for “Best Answer” numerous times, the Yahoo gods won’t flag you for creating a second account. Using the new account you’ve created, answer questions in totally different categories to increase your “market share.” Rinse & Repeat the above steps.
Way 6 : Links vs…original answers should be about 5/100….if you have 100 answers I wouldn’t advise you to have any more than 5 quality links touting your ads. I know this is much different than other tips given on this subject….but this has worked best for me. Yes, this will take a lot of effort to start up, but there’s no reason to waste all of your hard work by being greedy.

How to make money with SEO

There are two ways to use SEO to help your organization. One is reliable and effective, the other is a glorious crap shoot that usually fails but is wonderful when it works. I'll start with the second.
The most common way to use search engine optimization is to find a keyword (like "plumbing") and do whatever you can to 'own' that word on Google. This is Google as the Yellow Pages (with free ads).
The Yellow Pages are terrific for plumbers, because if you need a plumber, that's where you're going to look. Buy the biggest ad, be the first listing, you get calls. Google is a revelation because it's a super Yellow Pages and it's free! The problem: how to be the first listing, because being the 40th listing is fairly worthless.
The answer: You probably won't be. There are 14 million matches for Plumber, and no, you won't be #1 or #2. You lost. In fact, in just about every keyword worth owning, your chances are winning are small.
(To the .00001% of the people reading this who win--congratulations. You can ignore this post.)
This method is so appealing because it's all about converting the non-converted. For free, you show up in front of people who didn't know about you and you get your shot to convert them. This is the marketer's dream.
Am I saying it's not worth trying to win? Of course not. If you can give it a shot for the right set of keywords and not spend too much or count too much on winning, then go for it. But the other method is a lot more compelling (and, yes, you can do both at the same time).
The other way to use SEO is a bit more organic. (Let's call it the White Pages approach). It involves owning a keyword that you already own. Do a search on ShoeMoney in Google and you'll find 340,000 matches. Wanna guess who's first?ShoeMoney. Why is this surprising? After all, he invented the word and he owns the domain.
Someone hears about Jeremy's site from a friend or from a blog or from some other source. They want to visit his site and they type it into Google. He told me that he gets five times as much traffic from this search term as any other on Google.
The power of this technique is that with determination and patience, you will certainly win. It requires inventing a trademark and then building a business or service or organization around this trademark that people actually talk about. You want to be able to say to someone, "just type ____ into Google."
Obviously, the only people who will do this have heard about you in some other way. So this is an amplification and word of mouth strategy, not a blue sky conversion play.
Here's the math:
If you are lucky enough to 'win' at traditional Yellow Pages SEO, you might convert a few percentage points of the traffic you get into customers. On the other hand, if you win at White Pages SEO, if you win because people talk about your unique take and use your name, you convert just about everyone. Think about that... if someone types Seth into Google, they're probably looking for me, and so when they arrive here, they stay, because they found me. If, on the other hand, they type in Cow, most of the people who end up here aren't looking for my book, so they leave.
David Meerman Scott owns the word 'Meerman'. I have no idea if he uses his middle name in real life, but it sure helps him online. Scott Ginsberg owns the term 'nametag scott'. You get the idea. It's like owning the perfect domain, via Google.
When you start to win at the White Pages strategy, it turns out that this helps you win at both. Your blog or site gets more organic traffic, which will organically raise your Google results for other words and phrases.
Step by step:
1. Make an incredible product, offer a remarkable service.
2. Associate a unique term or trademark with it. (Something that isn't generic, and preferably, not a crowded search term already).
3. Assuming that you do #1 and #2, you'll end up owning that word in the search engines. If you don't, revisit the first two steps.
The hard part, of course, is making something people choose to talk about. The good news is that this is under your control, which is better than the alternative.

Ten ways to earn a second income

Rent a room
If you have an empty spare room, you could rent it out for up to £4,250 a year, about £354 a month, and have no tax to pay on the rental income. Checking out one of the house share websites, such as www.moveflat.com, will give you an idea of the going rate for rooms in your area and also how to market your room.
Once you become a landlord, you will have certain responsibilities under law, go to www.shelter.org.ukfor free guidance on tenancy and deposit agreements.
Homeowners are advised to speak to their mortgage lender first as some mortgage agreements will not permit borrowers to take on tenants. Also, taking on a tenant may have implications for your home and contents insurance, so check your policy and ensure you have the cover you want.
Get into the movies
If you fancy following in the footsteps of Ricky Gervais in Extras, then you could work as a "supporting artist" for up to £150 a day.
Equity, the performing artists' trade union, says extras can make a good living. But you must be prepared to spend hours waiting on set or location until you are needed for shots. Go to www.equity.org.ukor www.skillset.co.uk for more information on getting started and finding a reputable extras agency.
Alternatively, you could tout your home as a film and TV location by registering it at websites such as www.locations-uk.com or www.mylocations.co.uk. Payments for using your front door as a back drop, to filming inside your home can be in the thousands.

Teach someone a lesson
Private tutoring is an unregulated area, which means pretty much anyone can try their luck earning up to £30 an hour in their spare time by offering private tuition from everything from cookery, English and foreign languages, to GCSE and A-level subjects.
You could offer your services independently, by placing an advertisement in a newsagent's window or library notice board, or by delivering flyers around your neighbourhood. Alternatively, you could go through an agency.
Fleet Tutors (www.fleet-tutors.co.uk), for example, works with clients and tutors in the Home Counties, London and across the UK. To register you will need a degree in the subject you wish to teach.
While you will typically get less cash from going down the agency route, it can help you secure prospective clients for your services.

Sell, sell, sell
Next time you clean out the attic, or give your living room a new look, remember that you can sell on that old sofa, out of favour antique or object d'art for up to £6,000 without triggering any capital gains tax.
In terms of whether transactions are liable to tax, the important distinction is that when you bought what you intend selling, you did not buy it with the intention to sell it on at a profit. For example, if you repeatedly buy and sell vintage dresses on eBay at a profit, then these transactions will be considered trades and you ought to include your profits in taxable income.

Driveways and garages
Driveways and garages can be coveted assets in areas where people are constantly charged with the task of feeding the meter or dodging car park attendants.
You can advertise your parking offer locally in the classified ads of local newspapers, or go to websites like Gumtree.com. Remember to include important information in your advertisement, including distance from local transport links and anything that will set your place out from the crowd, such as having 24-hour access or the fact the garage is in a CCTV area. You can charge up to £50 a week depending on where your parking space/garage is and how secure it is.
Don't forget to let the taxman know of the rental income after expenses on your tax return.

Pet, house or baby-sit
You could earn up to £50 a day just by living in someone else's home and looking after their pets while they are on holiday.
Before agreeing to house-sit, draw up a dos and don'ts type agreement with your client. This ought to include how many hours it is acceptable to leave the house in the night and during the day, who can come and visit you, as well as detailing agreed plant watering and any cleaning duties, the pets' routines and whether food will be provided for you throughout your stay.
You could find your clients independently or go through an agency, which are likely to insist that you do not leave the house for any more than an hour after dark. They'll also probably contact you regularly throughout your stay to check up on you.
Babysitting is the perennial favourite for generating extra cash. Be upfront about costs and expectations – such as expecting taxi money for any homeward journeys after midnight.

Put yourself in the picture
You don't have to look like Gisele Bündchen to be a model. Some modelling agencies specialise in unusual or "normal" looking people.
Agency Ugly offers casting directors a choice of average joes, as well as "thugs", "bikers" and twins.
Models can earn up to £100 per hour on a commercial shoot, but they should be prepared to cover some costs when they join an agency including having some professional shots taken, as well keeping their details up to date.
Alternatively, you could earn money from your appearance by offering your services as life model to an arts school, earning between £10 and £25 a time.

Put your children in the picture
Most parents think their children are the most beautiful in the world, but if other people are inclined to agree with you, you could think about putting them forward as child models.
Your child could earn hundreds a day, cash you could put towards school fees and childcare, or into a child trust fund or a tax-free ISA in the child's name.
Bonnie Breen, head booker at Bizzykidz Agency says there are some classic costly mistakes to avoid when it comes to working with agencies: "Don't pay subscription fees, yearly fees or joining fees. You will, with all agencies, be asked to cover the costs of your child's model cards or entry into their model book, but no agency should charge yearly fees to be represented by them."
Breen recommends www.albamodel.info for tips on getting started.

Avon calling
Could you join Avon's reported 170,000 sales representatives? For every £100 of goods they sell, reps earn 20 per cent commission, rising to 25 per cent for orders over £140.
Representatives start selling directly from the Avon brochure without having to buy stock in advance and they don't have to pay until the products have been delivered to their customers. Unlike many direct selling companies, there is no substantial initial cost outlay with only a £15 registration fee.

Do your research
You could earn pocket money and vouchers in minutes by telling research companies what you think.
Research Now pays from 50p for taking part in a text poll, up to £5 for taking part in an online survey. These "rewards" are credited to your online account with the company within 28 days and paid when your account balance reaches £10. Go to www.Valuedopinions.co.uk to find out more.
Also, Yougov.com pays you £1 when you register and then tops up your account intermittently. When you hit £50, you will receive a cheque in the post.
'It has been really important for me to make the most of what I have'
Amy Sebba, 27, a London Business School MBA student, makes extra cash by renting out the garage attached to her home in Putney, south-west London.
The former project manager says that she generates much-needed pocket money from the enterprise, especially useful as she is studying full-time: "I don't have any other income, so it has been really important to me to make the most of what I have."
Sebba found her renter through Gumtree.com and says organising the arrangement was easy, although she would recommend drawing up a contract, asking your renter for payment via direct debit and also doing an inventory of what is already in your garage.
It is worth checking out what your tenant intends to use your garage for. "The person renting my garage is definitely using it for their car – you wouldn't want someone using the space for anything dodgy!"

More Money: 5 Ways to Earn Extra Cash in Your Spare Time

Become a consultant
Earlier this year, Andréa wrote a guest entry about becoming a consultant to defeat debt quickly:
“Consulting” may sound intimidating. It’s really just a fancy word for someone who trades their knowledge and expertise for pay. Every time you make a suggestion, recommend a process, draw up a plan or manage a process, you’re using consulting skills. To get into consulting, you just need to find someone who can use your expertise.
Read more advice about how to become a consultant at Andréa’s site.
Real-life example: After I decided that computer programming was not for me, I set up a small computer consulting business. I designed web pages, maintained networks, and repaired computers. Though I didn’t have much work (I never pursued the business as much as I could have), my hourly pay was the highest it’s ever been in my life.
Earn money from your hobbies
If you’re like most people, your hobbies cost money. They may cost lots of money. For example, I used to spend hundreds of dollars for new camera lenses just so I could take better photos of my cats. Is there a way to turn your hobby into a money-making proposition? Even if you make just a little cash, you can help offset your costs. Get Rich Slowly readers have been sharing their stories about money-making hobbies in an ongoing (though irregular) Sunday series:
Here are some more ways that you can use your hobbies to bring you wealth.
Real-life example: After spending a fortune on lenses and camera equipment, I’ve actually been able to make a little money on my hobby. The $750 I’ve generated from prizes and sales is peanuts compared to what I’ve spend on the hobby, but it’s a start.
Make money online
Wait. Didn’t I just write that blogging is no way to get rich quick? Absolutely. But blogging can be a way to supplement your income. If you have subject that you’re passionate about, and if you like to write, a blog can let you earn extra money from your expertise.
But blogs aren’t the only way to make money online. You could open an online store. You couldsell things on eBay. Here’s a list of 10 ways to make money online from Web Worker Daily.
Real-life example: This blog.
Sell stuff
A final way to earn some extra cash is to sell things. Look in your closets. Check your bookshelves. Walk out to the garage. See all that junk? How much of it do you actually use? Couldn’t you borrow books from the library when you need them? When was the last time you played Mario Kart 64? Wouldn’t you feel better if your house were less cluttered?
As long as you don’t try to sell it all at once, it doesn’t take much time and effort to sell your used stuff to generate some extra cash.
  • Sell your most valuable items on eBay. (My eBay tips.)
  • Consider selling certain specialty items to specific stores: sell your used CDs to a music store, your used Nintendo stuff to a game store, etc.
  • Use Craigslist to sell bulky items, or to get rid of stuff that just won’t sell. (My Craigslist tips.)
  • Hold a garage sale to purge everything else. (Our annual garage sale is just a month away — I can’t wait.)
Real-life example: Once or twice a year, I sell extra stuff I’ve accumulated. Each year at our garage sale, I make about $300. Every couple years, I sell more valuable items on eBay. Last year I made $1500 for a few hours of work.
Use your extra money wisely!
What should you do with the extra money you earn using these techniques? Put it in a high yield savings account, establish an emergency fundpay off debt, and then save for retirement!
